Water Heater Expansion Tank – Do I need an expansion tank for my water heater?

Do I need an expansion tank for my water heater?

I have a new water heater and it leaks a little bit when the water reheats. usually occurs when I am doing laundry. the water leaks on the concrete slab from a copper pipe. I would say about 6 oz.

the company said that is due to thermal expansion and that I need an expansion tank.

it is a kenmore powermiser 9 and the pin in the T&P valve seems to have alot of play in it

i called there service center and they said that i need to install an expansion tank and regulate my pressure going in
